How does Spray Tanning work?
How does Spray Tanning work?
Spray tanning is a form of sunless tanning that uses a fine mist of a tanning solution to give your skin a golden hue. The solution is made up of a combination of DHA (dihydroxyacetone), which is a colourless sugar that interacts with the proteins in the dead layer of your skin to produce a dark colour, as well as other ingredients like moisturisers, anti-aging and skin-loving extracts.
When you go for a spray tan, you'll be asked to stand in a tent or a room where a technician will spray the solution all over your body. The tanning solution should be left on the skin for about 1-4 hrs for a rapid solution or up to 8 hours for an overnight solution before showering to allow the DHA to fully activate and produce the desired colour.
What is Dha in Tanning?
Dha (dihydroxyacetone) is a colourless sugar that is used in sunless tanning products. It works by reacting with the amino acids in the skin's outer layer, causing a temporary darkening of the skin. Dha is the active ingredient in most self-tanning products and is generally considered safe for use.
